 Women & Children’s Hospital has a full complement of pediatric sub-specialists and surgeons who comprise a nationally and internationally recognized academic unit for training the next generation of pediatric specialists as an affiliated teaching hospital of the University at Buffalo, and who make it the preferred site for children to receive care in Western New York
The pediatric specialists at Women & Children’s Hospital consist of individuals who have devoted their professional lives to the care of health problems in fetuses, infants, toddlers, children and young adults. These specialists have undergone additional training in fellowship programs devoted to specialized pediatric care. In addition, they are actively involved in teaching and research, thereby expanding the frontiers of their specialties to help ensure the highest quality of care.
Women's Services
 While Women & Children’s Hospital has been known as the place for sick or injured children since 1892, it is also the regional center for a comprehensive range of specialists available to serve the health needs of women before, during and after giving birth.
There’s no such thing as a ‘no risk’ pregnancy or birth. Perinatologists, experts in the unborn child, diagnose and care for the fetus prenatally to help ensure a healthy newborn and mother. Perinatologists are so specialized in their training, only 30-40 are now actively practicing in the United States. Women & Children’s Hospital has three Board Certified Perinatologists on site following all deliveries for the mother and child.
On-site adult specialists respond immediately to medical needs of women. Women & Children’s has four Internal Medicine specialists on site trained in adult and pediatric medicine. These physicians specialize in diagnosing and treating adult women and have immediate access to adult specialists in cardiology, oncology or any other medical specialty.
 Prenatal care for women is also critical for the health of mother and child. For example, pregnant women are at risk for Diabetes. The Josephine Goodyear Women’s Health Center provides preventive health screenings and regular well care visits for women of all ages, including for women with Diabetes, high blood pressure and bleeding disorders that must be monitored throughout pregnancy. Normal GYN exams, STD testing, HIV counseling and testing, family planning, cervical cancer screening, colposcopy appointments are also available.
 How about the facilities?
All women enjoy private delivery and post partum rooms at Women & Children’s Hospital. Celebration Suites, which offer added amenities for the new mom and her entire family, are available for reservation. The Mother/Baby and the High Risk Post Partum units have recently been completely renovated.
