| Barb Lawrence Accepts Lead To Pursue Magnet Status |
FOR RELEASE: 1/12/2010 |
Barbara Lawrence, RN, BS, has accepted the position of Magnet Coordinator for Kaleida Health, effective immediately.
Barb brings energy and more than 30 years of nursing experience at Kaleida Health to this important position. She will be working with staff and leadership at all levels to take us on our Magnet journey.
Magnet status is an award given by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center (ANCC), an affiliate of the American Nurses Association, to hospitals that satisfy a set of criteria designed to measure the strength and quality of their nursing. A Magnet hospital is stated to be one where nursing delivers excellent patient outcomes, where nurses have a high level of job satisfaction, and where there is a low staff nurse turnover rate and appropriate grievance resolution.
Barb’s contributions to nursing have been instrumental to multiple nursing achievements at Buffalo General Hospital and Kaleida Health. She has led nurses and supported physicians who rely on her expertise to create an environment that ultimately results in the safest, quality care for those they serve together.
"I can think of no greater advocate for our nursing workforce and champion for nursing excellence than Barb," said Mary Beth Campo, chief nursing executive, Kaleida Health. "She has the experience, passion and leadership skills needed to not only pursue Magnet status but to achieve it."
