Further developing medical services and expertise available for its obstetrical, gynecology and other adult patients, Women & Children’s Hospital has appointed Aaron B. Hoffman, M.D., as Medical Director of Adult Surgical Services.
An accomplished physician who will continue to deliver unique and specialized surgical services for women in Western New York, Dr. Hoffman is formalizing his existing role at Women & Children’s Hospital by expanding its adult surgical services.
Dr. Hoffman is Board Certified in General Surgery and completed an accredited fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery. By utilizing cameras for abdominal surgery rather than traditional open surgical techniques, there is faster recovery, less pain and fewer complications than traditional surgery. Laparosopic surgery has even greater advantages for women with surgical emergencies during pregnancy.
Dr. Hoffman’s appointment complements other key appointments and resulting expansion of women’s services at Women & Children’s Hospital, including Stephanie Mann, M.D., as the new Director of Perinatal Medicine, who provides specialized comprehensive services for high-risk pregnancies involving maternal and/or fetal complications in the Regional Perinatal Center.
Also, Colin McMahon, M.D., Medical Director of Internal Medicine, who leads a team of Board Certified Internal Medicine physicians who provide 24-hour coverage on-site for immediate responses to all urgent medical needs of women
Recruited back to UB after his Fellowship by Merril Dayton, M.D., Chairman of Surgery and Clinical Chief of Surgery at Kaleida Health, Dr. Hoffman will also continue his UBMD practice based at Buffalo General Hospital with his partners Alan Posner, M.D., and John Butsch, M.D.
